General Info

Dr. Abs is now currently studying the use of testosterone derivatives in dermatology due to the profound antiaging effects seen in the evidence shown in the video on this page with simultaneous lack of systemic side effects or systemic hormone changes.

If you are unsure if the product is for you, you are welcome to email contact@drabs.clinic first so that you do not submit a consultation fee unnecessarily. If the product is unsuitable for you, the prescription will not be made, as per regulations.

Prescriptions are not charged for - this is included in the cost of the consultation form. The cream is not manufactured or sold by Dr. Abs - it is produced in a pharmacy as per regulations. Scripts to give to your local pharmacy is not part of this service. We work with a trusted pharmacy partner only.

Currently, a 30g tube of the product is ~£190 in the UK. We expect prices to come down more over time. This should last up to 2-3 months depending on the area being treated. Stability of the product is 3 months and will hopefully increase over time as manufacturing increases. Further prescriptions do not need another consultation or consultation fee. The concentration is extremely low at 1% and in line with the available evidence. Bigger tubes (50g) are also available. This is not for use on the scalp.

Hair growth

So far (~6 months). We have seen no inconvenient hair growth in any patients. We expect that after 1 year of use, there may be an increased growth of 4-5 mm of exisiting hair only, as per evidence available. This cream will not create new hair follicles where none exist. For example, if no hair exists somewhere (eg nose), it will not make hair appear from nowehere. But if hair already exists (eg sideburns), it may revert gray hair to the original colour as well as increasing the growth. Patients (all genders) that have had laser hair removal will see zero growth, if any. Patients that semi-regularly shave/wax/dermaplane etc will not need to do anything different - their existing routine will suffice and they will not have any excess hair present due to their routine removing hair before it has a chance to grow. Please note that it is not advised to use the product on the scalp or if scalp conditions are present such as active hair loss.

Skin conditions

It is not to be used to ‘treat’ any skin conditions in the way we may use products like Tretinoin. Patients with exisiting acne may theoretically see an increase in acne. For this reason, we do not use the product for this or any other condition.

Effects on the whole body

From blood tests on existing patients we have seen no increase in the body’s testosterone level. These have been published in a video on Dr. Abs’ youtube channel. This is in line with the evidence available. Please see screenshot above for a patient testimonial from our skool group showing that there is no change to the body’s testosterone after a blood test to check. However, it would theoretically be possible for this to happen if used incorrectly. All patients only report effects/changes in the areas the cream is applied to, however. Three patients have reported possible changes to test levels but they were also taking hormone replacement therapy systemically which was designed to change those levels on purpose. Due to this, it was impossible to determine the cause of the possible level changes. All three reported physical/visual changes only in the areas the cream was applied.

Best routine

We recommend using it AM + PM by itself. Consultation fee / Purchase fee

Please use the button on the right to take you to the online assessment form. Once you submit this form along with payment, it will be medically analysed and a custom prescription can be created for you. This is a simple check that is legally required in order to make sure that it is safe for you to use the product. You will then receive an email to proceed with the purchase. If your medical history is simple, you will be informed that there is no contraindication to using the cream. If it is more complex, we may give much more information in order to facilitate safe usage. The payment in the form is for the one-time assessment and all future prescription-writing to the pharmacy we prescribe with (we do not hand out scripts to take to your local pharmacy). The cream purchase is separate to the assessment form submission. You will not need another assessment form submission / payment for future repeat orders - it is only for the first time and the work that is required to assess a patient and write their prescription and required documentation, operations, staff admin… Please have pictures of the area of skin you’d like to treat ready - the form will require you to upload them as part of the consultation process.

The consultation process can be extremely quick due to reading a medical history and looking at a picture requiring just a minute or two for experienced clinicians. Please know that a quick process does not indicate a lack of examination of the information - it indicates experience to do it in an efficient manner. It is the prescription writing, staff admin, operations etc that require time/money going forward for the initial and future purchases. If you have a very small or empty medical history you should receive a response to your submission very quickly.

We have dropped the cost of the consultation since we started by using the consultation system on the right. We have also dropped the cost of the product by £30/~$40 so far thanks to increased usage. We aim to continue this trend as time goes on.

  • The scientific evidence suggests 6 months. However, we advise that diet plays a large role in this and patients on a standard western, vegetarian or vegan diet may need longer.

  • Cleansers can still be used when there’s something to cleanse off (eg makeup). But outside that, it’s not essential.

  • No, this is not necessary because as skin becomes healthy, it will set it’s own acidity/alkalinity level without needing help.

  • SPF can still be worn when going outside.

  • Yes, both upper and lower eyes can be treated with no problem.

  • Dermarolling can still be done weekly. Do not apply the cream straight after as it may then penetrate deeper and affect the body. Avoid using the cream on the evenings you dermaroll.

  • Yes. But, do not use the LED mask on anything other than clean and dry skin.

  • Combining the two may give less result than just using this cream on it’s own. As well as this the tretinoin may increase penetration of the TP cream which we do not recommend.

  • There would not be a need for this as the cream here would have more anti-aging effect on the cell anyway than those other ingredients. Patients addicted to using multiple things because they think more is better are encouraged to change their attitude on this topic.

  • Roughly one third to one half of a pump is enough for the whole face.

  • If mixing with niacinamide powder, mix with as much as possible without it feeling grainy. This is optional, not essential.
